How to Change a Grip

Worn grips can cause your hands to slip, leading to errant shots.
The daily golfer should regrip clubs 2-3 times a year, while the weekend golfer should regrip clubs once a year.

01. Pull off the old grip. Use a utility knife to cut it off if necessary.

02. Scrape tape away using fingers
or utility knife.

03. Put solvent on rag and clean shaft where grip and tape used to be.

04. Let shaft dry for a minute.

05. Put middle of shaft in vise shaft holder, and put vise shaft holder and shaft into the vise. Tighten the vise for a strong hold.

06. Cut off a piece of tape from the roll and place that piece of tape on the end of the golf club. Make sure that the tape doesn't extend past the point where
the grip will be.

07. Align the butt of the grip with the end of the shaft.

08. Make a mark on shaft where grip ends. Tape should not extend past this point.

09. Take new grip and put a golf tee in the little hole at the butt of the grip.

10. Pour some solvent inside the grip.

11. Place a finger over the end of the grip and shake it, allowing solvent to spread throughout interior of grip.

12. Pour additional solvent onto
taped portion of shaft.

13. Pull golf tee out of end of grip.

14. Slide grip onto shaft, over tape. The longer you wait, the harder it will be to slide the grip on.

15. Take club out of vise holder and vise.

16. Hold club as if you were hitting a shot, so it would be square to a target. Gently adjust grip so that it is straight on the club.

17. Let clubs dry for 6 to 10 hours, depending on air temperature.

Tips:
If it is hard to slide on the new grip, use more solvent either inside the grip or on the tape. For large hands, put 2 or 3 strands of tape on the shaft.
When using utility knife, cut away from your body.
