The
Fade Shot
by David Jaure
A fade shot is a very common shot used by pros starting at
the left of the target then fading right, in the middle of the
ball flight.
You may also use it to enter the green, avoiding trouble then
looking for the pin.
The Steps:
1. Stand completely square aming at the target. (remember
that the target is not going to be the 'final target'...).
Your target is were you want the ball to start at, usually 10 to
15 yards left of your final target.
2. Now place your right foot slightly ahead of the
possition you had it before.
(This will make you open your body possition).
3. Start the back swing slightly to the outside.
(If your back swing follows a straight possition, your "fade"
back swing should be to the outside of that path).
4. Take your normal down swing.
Recap.
By standing open to the target and taking an open back swing,
the club head will come down slightly open giving the ball a cut
spin which will make it fade to the right.
The most important thing to remember is that you must aim to the
left of your 'final target' so the ball can come down right on
it!
The fade shot will help you decrease your score by avoiding
trouble and playing the course smart! |
